This or That is the fastest game in this collection. There is no explaining and no defending: you hear two options and you say one. That speed is the point, because instant answers reveal preferences people would talk themselves out of if given ten seconds. It works as a warm-up before a longer game, as a car game, as a classroom energizer, or as a way to get a quiet group talking in under a minute. Run it in rounds, going around the circle with the same pair so you can see where the group splits, or fire different pairs at each player in turn. Add a timer if you want it competitive.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if someone cannot decide?

Use a three-second timer. A player who runs out of time is out of the round, or takes a point against them.

Can you play it with a big group?

Yes. With more than eight people, read one pair and have everyone answer at once by raising a hand for each option.

Is it good for kids?

It is one of the best games here for younger players, because every question is answerable in a single word.
