Would You Rather is the simplest party game there is, and that is exactly why it works. Every card gives you two options and no third door, so the group learns something about each other in the space of a single sentence. A good dilemma is one where both sides sound reasonable until someone starts arguing, and then suddenly nobody agrees. Play it around a table, in a car, in a waiting room, or in a classroom warm-up. The questions here run from silly to genuinely thoughtful, so you can steer the mood by choosing a category. Keep the pace quick, let people explain themselves in a sentence or two, and move on before the debate gets stuck.

How to play

  1. Sit in a circle and decide who reads first.
  2. Read a card out loud and let the next player answer before anyone else chips in.
  3. Ask the answering player for one sentence explaining why they chose that side.
  4. Pass the phone or the deck to the left and draw a new dilemma.

Frequently asked questions

How many people do you need?

Two is enough, but the game gets better with four to eight, since disagreement is the whole point.

Can you refuse both options?

No. Choosing is the game. If a player is truly stuck, let the group vote for them and move on.

Is it suitable for classrooms?

Yes. The For Kids and Funny categories are written for younger players and work well as a lesson warm-up.
