Name All the 50 US States
Five minutes, fifty states, no list to look at. Most people stall somewhere in the Great Plains.
Answers register as you type, so there is nothing to submit. Spelling counts, capitals and punctuation do not.
Naming all fifty states is the quiz almost everyone has attempted and almost nobody finishes cleanly on a first try. The trouble is never the big ones. California, Texas and Florida arrive in seconds. What people lose are the small New England states that blur together and the rectangular block between the Rockies and the Mississippi, where Kansas, Nebraska and the Dakotas take turns hiding from each other.
A useful trick is to travel rather than to list. Start on one coast and work across in bands, or follow a route you have actually driven. Recall is far stronger when it hangs on a shape than when it hangs on the alphabet.

Frequently asked questions
How long should it take to name all 50 states?
Five minutes is a comfortable target. People who know the map well finish in two to three minutes, and typing speed becomes the limit rather than memory.
Which states do people forget most often?
The Plains and northern Mountain states, along with the smaller New England ones. Delaware, Vermont, New Hampshire, Kansas and the Dakotas are the classic gaps.
Does spelling have to be exact?
No. Capitals, spaces and punctuation are ignored, so pennsylvania and Pennsylvania both count. The spelling of the name itself does need to be right.
Prefer multiple choice?
The trivia rounds give you four options and an explanation after every answer. General KnowledgeGeographyScienceHistory
