Name All the Countries of Africa
Fifty-four countries. This is the continent most people underestimate by a wide margin.
Answers register as you type, so there is nothing to submit. Spelling counts, capitals and punctuation do not.
Africa holds fifty-four sovereign states, more than any other continent, and most people guess far lower. The gap between what someone can name and what is actually there is usually thirty countries wide.
Several names have changed within living memory, which is why older knowledge fails here. Swaziland became Eswatini in 2018, Cape Verde asked to be called Cabo Verde, and Côte d'Ivoire prefers its French name to Ivory Coast. All the former names are accepted, as are DRC and DR Congo for the larger of the two Congos.
The two Congos cause the most confusion. They are separate countries either side of a river, distinguished here as the Democratic Republic and the Republic.
